Common Tick-Borne Diseases

Anaplasmosis

Anaplasmosis can be caused by the Anaplasma phagocytophilum bacteria. Tick bites from the western blacklegged and blacklegged categories are often the main cause. People with this condition usually have muscle aches, chills, headache, or fever. Most cases can be treated successfully with doxycycline. Anaplasmosis is more common in the Midwestern and Northeastern regions of the United States. You can prevent anaplasmosis by avoiding common tick habitats when working or going outdoors, such as wooded, bushy, or grassy areas. Ticks can be active throughout the year, especially during warm seasons. [5]
