Risk Factors at Birth
Some special conditions at birth are linked to a higher risk of brain aneurysms. These include:
– Polycystic kidney disease: this is an inherited condition that causes fluid-filled sacs in the kidneys and increases blood pressure
– Cerebral arteriovenous malformation: it causes an abnormal connection between veins and arteries in the brain, which interrupts the normal blood flow of blood
– Abnormally narrow aorta: this reduces the blood flow to the brain [10]
