Risk Factors for Chronic Venous Insufficiency
Certain risk factors may make people more prone to the development of chronic insufficiency. These include:
– Being women
– Being diagnosed with May Thurner syndrome
– Smoking
– Being pregnant
– Sitting or standing for an extended period of time
– Being over 50 years old
– Leading a sedentary lifestyle
– Having a family history of problems with varicose veins
– Having an injury in the vein
Having any of these risk factors would make you more susceptible, but it does not necessarily mean you will have chronic venous insufficiency. [5]
