What Are Basophils?
Basophils are a form of white blood cells. Along with other different types, they work together to help the immune system fight against foreign invaders, such as fungi, parasites, bacteria, and viruses. While basophils are created in the body marrow, they can be found in many tissues in the body. If the level of basophil is low, a serious allergy can be a possible cause. This might slow down the healing from an infection. However, having too many basophils might indicate the presence of blood cancer. [1]
