Basophils – What You Need to Know

How Are Basophils Produced?

Like other blood cells, basophils are produced from stem cells in your bone marrow. Through hematopoiesis, they develop and become specialized in their function and structure before being released into the bloodstream for circulation as mature cells. Around 0.5 percent of white blood cells in the body are basophils. They circulate in blood vessels and typically live for several days before degenerating and being replaced by new cells. [2]
