Types of Amyloidosis
Amyloidosis can be divided into different types. ATTR or transthyretin amyloidosis is the most common form, which involves TTR protein in the liver. It can affect your heart, nerves, and other organs. AL or primary amyloidosis involves abnormal antibody elements called light chains. AA or secondary amyloidosis involves the serum amyloid protein. This type is often caused by inflammatory disease or infection. Each kind of amyloidosis can have different symptoms and life expectancy. [4]
