Other Risk Factors
In addition to the above causes and risk factors, some other things can make people more vulnerable to an ACL injury. A previously torn ACL can increase the risk of re-tearing, especially in the first year after surgery. Keep in mind that wearing a brace only helps you speed up healing rather than reduce the risk or prevent ACL injury. Some other risk factors include playing on artificial or tough turf surfaces, using poorly maintained equipment, wearing unfitted footwear, or poor conditioning. [10]
