Acid Reflux Symptoms
Fundamentally, there are three symptoms of acid reflux: heartburn, regurgitation, and dyspepsia. [2]
Heartburn
Known as acid indigestion, heartburn is a burning sensation in the chest area, but it could also spread to other parts of your body, such as your throat or abdomen. You would notice the discomfort get worse after meals, at night, when lying down or bending over.
Regurgitation
Another typical sign of acid reflux is regurgitation. Regurgitation happens when stomach acid, bile acid, or undigested foods flow backwardly through the esophagus into your mouth, causing a bitter taste and foul smell. Different from vomiting, regurgitation only leads to a wet burp, which is in a small amount.
