Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Magnetic resonance imaging or MRI is a procedure that uses a very strong magnet and radio waves. It can generate very detailed images of your Achilles tendon. During this process, you might have to lie inside a scanner for a couple of minutes. The results can show the severity of the damage in your tendon and help your doctor suggest a suitable treatment option. Keep in mind that this imaging test is not necessary for diagnosis. It should only be suggested in serious cases when more information can help with treatment and recovery.[4]
