6 Types of Seizures

Atonic Seizure

People with an atonic seizure tend to drop their head while sitting or fall suddenly from a standing position. That is why this type is also known as drop attacks. These symptoms would last around 15 seconds, but they can happen many times during the day. Children are at higher risk, and the condition might persist throughout adulthood. Some other associated conditions include Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastrau syndrome. Due to the risk of falling, those with atonic seizure often need to wear helmets to protect their heads against injuries and damages, which can be life-threatening. [3]
