6 Common Types of Dementia

Lewy Body Dementia

Lewy body dementia, also known as dementia with Lewy bodies, occurs when there is an accumulation of protein in nerve cells. This affects chemical messages in your brain and leads to disorientation and memory loss. People with this form tend to find it difficult to fall asleep, feel drowsy during the day, or have visual hallucinations. Also, they would become disoriented or lost or faint. In general, it shares many similarities with Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, such as weakness, difficulty walking, or trembling in limbs. [4]
