What Does a Focal Seizure Feel Like?

Focal Impaired Awareness Seizure

A focal impaired awareness seizure is characterized by a loss of consciousness. Before an attack, you would experience an aura. You will be not able to be aware of what is occurring during the seizure. After this period, you would feel tired or confused. This type of seizure may also cause automatisms, such as quick blinking, repetitive tapping, grunting, repeating phrases or words, repeated hand movements, mumbling, screaming, crying, and other dramatic behaviors. Depending on the affected part of the brain, symptoms can vary from person to person. They tend to last 1 to 2 minutes. [1]
