Cynophobia
If you were bitten by a dog when you were a child, it is likely to lead to the fear of this animal, also known as cynophobia. Such kinds of events could be relatively traumatic and might result in fear responses which last well throughout adulthood. Unlike normal anxiety of unfamiliar canines, this common phobia is an excessive and irrational fear which could have severe effects on a person’s functioning and life. For instance, you would feel unable to walk on a few streets as you know that there are some dogs in the neighborhood. This avoidance act could impact your daily life by making it hard to get to school, work, or other activities that happen out of your house. [5]
