Toenail Fungus
People with yeast infection would also develop toenail fungus due to the overgrowth of candida bacteria. This happens mainly because these bacteria meet ideal conditions such as acidity levels, moisture, and varying temperatures. All of these elements can be found in your socks or shoes, making your feet prone to the infection. This skin fungal infection would lead to visible rashes and itching. However, keep in mind that toenail fungus can also be caused after walking barefoot in a swimming pool, public shower, or locker room, so it is better to visit your doctor for a precise diagnosis. Though it is not a life-threatening sign, toenail fungus would be very uncomfortable and considerably lower your quality of life.[10]
