Psoralen Plus Ultraviolet (PUVA)
Since ultraviolet A does not work effectively and faster like ultraviolet B, you can do a combination. This combination termed “PUVA therapy” includes Ultraviolet A and a medication known as Psoralen. Combining psoralens with ultraviolet A makes a very effective treatment. Psoralens are chemicals found in certain plants. They have the ability to absorb the light energy from UVA, and once the energy is absorbed, these Psoralens are empowered with the ability to interact with DNA and inhibit cell multiplication. Hence, psoralens need UV light to be activated. This therapy should be done under the supervision of a medical practitioner. [11]
