Myocardial Infarction
Myocardial infarction, often known as a heart attack, is a condition in which a blood clot totally blocks one or several coronary arteries. As a result, blood flow to several parts of your heart can be interrupted. Once your heart muscles are deprived of nutrient and oxygen-rich blood, they might not function, as usual, thus becoming weaker. This would cause less effective pumping functions, resulting in heart failure over time. In addition, myocardial infarction would increase pressure in the heart and cause fluids to back up in your lungs. Congestion in the respiratory system can worsen your symptoms and reduce the quality of your life. [4]
