Screening for Cervical Cancer
Pap tests are the most effective method to diagnose cervical cancer. Women from 21 to 29 years old should get a test every 3 years, even when they have been vaccinated against HPV or human papillomavirus. Women from 30 to 65 years old should have co-testing, meaning both the HPV test and the Pap test, every 5 years. Women over 65 years old with normal results for the last decade do not need testing anymore.[3]
