10 Eye Care Warning Signs You Should Be Aware of

Swelling

When there’s a swelling around the eye, it means that there could be an irritant somewhere out of sight. Most swellings occur in the eyelids, indicating the presence of an internal problem. Oftentimes it could be as a result of one of these: a thyroid gland disorder known as Graves’ disease, or even due to ocular herpes, orbital cellulitis and a few other related conditions. These conditions may deteriorate into a loss of vision if not taken care of as soon as possible. Swelling in the eye can result from a serious allergy, and also from the excessive retention of fluid in the eye (which is common in patients with glaucoma). [3]
