Infection
In some cases, a viral or bacterial infection can trigger eczema. This is because these foreign elements cause the immune system to activate and lead to inflammatory responses. Conversely, people with eczema can also be more prone to several skin infections. Several infections that would increase the risk of eczema include herpes simplex, molluscum virus, yeast infections, and staph or staphylococcus aureus.[3]
