Verzenio: Uses, Dosage, Side Effects, Warnings

Verzenio for Pregnant and Breastfeeding Women

Pregnant women should not take Verzenio. Animal studies have suggested that the medication would have negative effects on the fetus. Specifically, it would increase the risk of a lower body weight at birth and defects of the skeleton or heart. Before starting Verzenio treatment, do a pregnancy test to make sure you are not pregnant. If you plan to become pregnant or are currently pregnant, talk with them to seek a proper alternative.

Verzenio should not be prescribed for breastfeeding women as well. While there is currently no scientific proof, the drug would pass into the breast milk and affect infants. Therefore, it is better to avoid the medication during this period. If you have already taken Verzenio, avoid breastfeeding your children for at least 3 weeks after the last dosage.[8]
