Sun Gazing: Definition, Risks, Benefits & How to Do It

Useful Tips to Practice Sun Gazing

Choose the Right Timing

Because UV rays from the sun can be harmful to your eyes, it is advisable to practice sun gazing only during off-peak times. Ideally, you should sun gaze within 30 minutes before sunset or 30 minutes during sunrise. The UV index is at the lowest level during these periods. Avoid this activity during the middle of the day. For the duration of sun gazing, beginners may start with around 10 seconds of looking at the sun. Gradually increase the amount by 10 seconds day by day until it reaches the optimal duration, which may range between 10 and 15 minutes. Do not exceed 30 minutes as it may affect your vision health.  [8]
