Which Parts of Medicare Are Affected by IRMAA?
Not all parts of Medicare are affected by IRMAA. Below is all that you need to know:
– Part A: IRMAA does not affect this part of Medicare. In fact, most participants with this plan do not even have to pay a premium per month.
– Part B: Your premiums for Medicare Part B can be affected by an IRMAA. In general, you may have to pay a surcharge with the standard premium, depending on the annual income level.
– Part C: IRMAA does not affect this part either.
– Part D: IRMAA also affects this part of Medicare. You may need to pay an additional amount based on your annual income. Keep in mind that this surcharge is different from the one that you have to pay for Part B. [4]
