Duration of J-Pouch Surgery
Below are the general time frames that you would expect for each stage of J-pouch surgery:
– Stage 1: You may have to stay in the hospital for 5 to 7 days before the procedure. During this period, your healthcare provider will perform preoperative checks, such as urine and blood tests. You can also learn more information and what to expect during the surgery. Around 1 to 2 days before the surgery, you may start an all-liquid diet and receive fluids via an IV line. The entire procedure would last from 2 to 4 hours.
