Recommended Dosage of Hydrochlorothiazide for Treating High Blood Pressure

Below are the recommended dosages for treating high blood pressure with hydrochlorothiazide in different age groups:

– Older adults over 65 years old: No specific recommendations.

– Adults from 18 to 64 years old: starting with 25 milligrams, taken one time a day. It may increase up to 50 milligrams, taken one or two times a day.

– Children from 12 to 17 years old: starting with 25 milligrams, taken one time a day. It may increase up to 50 milligrams, taken one or two times a day.

– Children from 3 to 11 years old: starting with 0.5 to 1 milligram per pound each day, taken one or two times a day. The maximum dosage is 100 milligrams per day.

– Children from 0.5 to 2 years: starting with 0.5 to 1 milligram per pound each day, taken one or two times a day. The maximum dosage is 37.5 milligrams per day.
