Mechanism of Action
Health experts would be quick to associate glutathione to a xenobiotic function. This is because glutathione functions by combining (or conjugating) with several substances and products of reactions in the body. It has the potential of detoxifying toxic substances before further inactivation occurs in the body. Hence, glutathione consolidates the activities of the body’s immune system also. Hence, free radicals and stray toxins in the body are eventually brought to book before they knew it. Sometimes, glutathione helps in fighting infection indirectly by helping in the production of specific proteins against the pathogen. [2]
