Enneagram 101: What It is & Why It’s Useful

How the Enneagram Works

You need to understand the foundational structure of the Enneagram before learning more about its effects on emotions. In general, it is a diagram with 9 points, which represent 9 different personalities. They are further divided into 3 triads called the Centers of Intelligence. These include:

– The Thinking Center or the head: types 5, 6, 7

– The Feeling Center or the heart: types 2, 3, 4

– The Instinctive Center or the body: type 1, 8, 9

Each triad has a common emotion that you belong to. It will explain how you interact with the world. The next sections will help you understand more about each personality typy in the Enneagram. [2]
