What Is Copaxone?
Copaxone is a prescription medication typically used as part of disease-modifying therapy for treating multiple sclerosis in adults. It contains the active ingredient glatiramer acetate. This drug works by preventing the immune system from mistakenly attacking nerve cells. As a result, Copaxone can help lower the frequency of multiple sclerosis relapses as well as slow down the progression of the disease. The medication is available in a prefilled syringe, which can be injected under the skin. Two strengths are available, including 20 milligrams and 40 milligrams. [1]
