Benefits of Garlic

Reduce the Risk of Lung Cancer

Some studies have shown that eating raw garlic regularly may help reduce the risk of lung cancer. This can be attributed to the effects of sulfur compounds and other powerful compounds in this food. However, the exact link is still unknown because cancer may be caused by many other lifestyle, diet, and genetic factors. Further research is needed to verify the results and find out whether garlic can be used as a chemo-preventive agent for this form of cancer.[4]

Reduce Blood Pressure

Eating some garlic cloves per day can benefit your blood pressure. This food can stimulate the synthesis of nitric oxide, thus dilating blood vessels and limiting ACE activity. The effects are quite similar to taking ACE inhibitors to relax blood vessels. As a result, blood can flow properly and reduce overall pressure. Some studies have found out that taking garlic supplements for a few months can reduce diastolic blood pressure and systolic blood pressure, a similar effect to taking blood pressure drugs and medications.
