Coagulation Tests
Coagulation tests examine the ability of the blood to clot and the needed time for this process. Some typical examples include fibrinogen activity and the prothrombin time test. Clotting plays a key role in stop bleeding after a wound or cut. However, a clot in the artery or vein can be life-threatening as it would block blood flow to the lungs, heart, or brain and lead to strokes or heart attacks. The results of a coagulation test would vary, depending on your underlying conditions and health. It can be used to diagnose deficiency of vitamin K, liver issues, thrombosis, hemophilia, and myeloid leukemia. [7]
