Butterbur
The butterbur is a shrub-like herb that typically grows in North America, Europe, and northern Asia. Its extracts can be used for treating asthma, allergies, coughs, stomach cramps, or migraines. Butterbur works similarly to allergy drugs by preventing inflammatory chemicals like leukotrienes and histamine from triggering allergic reactions. It can be used to alleviate some common symptoms such as itchy eyes, nasal congestion, or sneezing. However, there might be some possible side effects such as constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, fatigue, headache, or indigestion. Therefore, people with liver or kidney disease, children, and nursing or pregnant women should avoid taking butterbur. [5]
