Non-Surgical Treatments
If your bucket handle meniscus tear is chronic and does not trigger symptoms, then your doctor might suggest some non-surgical treatments. These include applying ice packs, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and physical therapy. They are most effective for minor tears. Also, people with serious arthritis can seek relief from these treatments since surgery cannot repair grade 3 or 4 arthritis. Another option is platelet-rich plasma therapy. This is a relatively new and advanced treatment. Thus, more research is still needed to measure safety. [5]
