Treatment Options
Most cases of bruising can be treated easily at home. You can try one of the following home remedies:
– Resting the bruised areas
– Apply ice to help alleviate the swelling. Leave it on the bruises for 15 to 20 minutes and repeat every hour if necessary
– Wear pants or long-sleeved tops to protect bruises on the legs and arms
– Take OTC drugs like acetaminophen or naproxen to improve pain. Avoid ibuprofen or aspirin because they would increase bleeding
– If possible, raise the affected area above the heart level to prevent blood from flowing into the bruises. [5]
