Seborrheic Dermatitis
Last but not least, many people may also misdiagnose psoriasis with a skin condition called seborrheic dermatitis. It mostly occurs on the scalp and leads to scaly areas of stubborn dandruff and red skin. These signs make it look like those in scalp psoriasis. The differences are:
– In psoriasis, the flakes have a scale-like and white appearance. The affected skin is also dry
– In seborrheic dermatitis, the flakes are a bit yellow and fine. The affected skin is oily
A doctor may also make a diagnosis by examining under the microscope to look for non-acanthotic or acanthotic appearance. [8]
