Avoid Triggers
Lichen planus can be prevented by avoiding common triggers. This is especially important when the condition affects the mouth as inflammation in this area can be much more difficult to treat than on the skin. To reduce the risk, you should stop smoking, clean the mouth frequently, and avoid drinking or eating foods that may irritate the inside of the mouth, such as spicy, acidic, or fatty products. If lichen planus is associated with an allergic reaction, hepatitis C infection, or a medication you take, other treatment options would be suggested. For instance, your doctor would prescribe another drug or ask you to stay away from allergens. [8]
