Induction Therapy
Before a stem cell transplant occurs, you need to receive other forms of treatment for multiple myeloma called induction therapy. The main goal at this phase is to kill and reduce the number of cancerous cells in the body. Common options include steroid therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and chemotherapy. It usually lasts several months to complete. Once induction therapy has finished, you can be well prepared for a stem cell transplant. [5]
