Sinus Tachycardia – Facts to Know

Causes

In most cases, sinus tachycardia is a usual response of your cardiovascular system to some factors that increase the heart rate. You can experience normal sinus tachycardia during anxiety or emotional distress, which stimulates the production of neurotransmitters like epinephrine and dopamine. Physical activities can also increase your heart rate as the heart has to pump more nutrients and oxygen to other parts. Additionally, the condition would be caused when you consume some stimulants, such as caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Some less common triggers include infections, low blood pressure, anemia, thyroid issues, and damages to cardiac tissues. Inappropriate sinus tachycardia often happens without a clear cause. [4]
