Postpartum Care – Tips and Timeline

2 Weeks

You might start to feel better after the first week. Vaginal bleeding might still occur, but it is not very heavy. Acute stinging or pain is less likely to happen, although you would still experience some residual soreness. During the first month of postpartum, many women often have hot flashes or night sweats. This is caused by hormonal changes and the need for the body to get rid of excess fluids during pregnancy. These problems would be very uncomfortable, but they are very normal and tend to resolve after several days or weeks.[2]
