Based on the reported symptoms, a doctor would suspect the presence of multiple myeloma. A blood test may be done to identify typical signs of the condition, such as high levels of calcium in the blood or anemia. In addition, some other tests should be implemented, such as:
– A biopsy to check for cancer cells in the body’s bone marrow
– Imaging techniques, such as MRI or CT, to check for cancer-linked changes in the bones
– Lab tests of the blood to look for plasma cells in the bone marrow
– An immunoglobulin free light chain [6]
