Heat and Cold Therapy
Cold and hot therapy can help ease the pain and discomfort caused by rheumatoid arthritis. Low temperature may cause the blood vessels to constrict, thus helping with swelling and inflammation. On the other hand, high temperature may help with easing discomfort due to muscle tension and lower pain sensitivity. For heat therapy, you can take a warm shower, place a heating pad, or soak the whole body in a warm bath. For cold therapy, take a cold shower or place an ice pack on the affected. Try 10 to 15 minutes for each session and do many sessions per day. Avoid too high or too low temperatures to ensure safety for your skin. [9]
