Viscosity Testing
Viscosity testing is a common diagnostic test for multiple myeloma. Due to the disease, the amount of protein would be produced excessively. This makes the blood become too viscous or thick, a condition also known as hyperviscosity. Therefore, this test will check for these signs to measure the progression and intensity of the disease. If the concentration of your M-protein is higher than 5 g/dL, there will be some significant symptoms, such as hearing loss, dizziness, double vision, vision changes, or headache. [4]
