Prevalence
The precise number of people with Korsakoff syndrome is unclear. However, it is widely regarded to be less common than other similar conditions, such as Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia, vascular dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. Like other forms of dementia, this disease can be underdiagnosed. Autopsies have discovered brain lesions that match signs of Korsakoff in around 0.4 to 2.8 percent of the general population in many Western nations, including the USA. The number can be more than 10 percent of those people who drink a large amount of alcoholic drinks. However, more studies still need to get the exact number for the prevalence of Korsakoff syndrome in the general population. [10]
