Physical Therapy
You may need to work with a physical therapist to adjust the movement. They will show you some proper exercises and stretches to correct muscle imbalances and improve the range of motion. Also, your body alignment will be improved to prevent the bursa inflammation from recurring in the future. This is especially important when the condition is caused by repetitive movements in physical activities or sports. Keep in mind that physical therapy can be helpful once the inflammation has decreased somewhat and you can move again. [6]
Aspiration
In some people with hip bursitis, an excessive amount of fluids may build up in the bursae and lead to swelling. The doctor may recommend aspiration to drain this area. During the procedure, a needle is placed into the bursa so that the fluid can be drained. It is quite rare to use aspiration for people with hip bursitis. But when it is done, a cortisone injection is often given after that. Aspiration may be a part of the diagnostic process as well to remove fluid for further testing in the lab. [7]
