Types of HAE Attacks

In people with HAE, an attack may happen and lead to disfiguring or painful swelling in one or different body parts. There are 3 main forms of HAE attacks that you should know. These include:

– Laryngeal attacks: These are the most dangerous form, which causes swelling in the throat. If left untreated, they would cause the airway to become closed up.

– Abdominal attacks: These may lead to swelling in the intestinal wall. Typical signs include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach pain.

– Subcutaneous attacks: This form affects several skin areas, especially the genitals, feet, hands, and face. [4]
