Gum Graft Pain What to Expect & How to Relieve Pain

How to Alleviate Gum Graft Pain

OTC painkillers, such as naproxen, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen, can help alleviate pain after a gum graft. When the pain is more serious, your doctor may suggest some prescription medications. In addition, you can reduce gum graft pain by:

– Consuming cool, soft foods, such as jello, yogurt, ice cream, pasta, eggs, or veggies

– Keeping oral hygiene, including flossing and brushing

– Not disturbing the treated area by prodding or poking it

– Not eating foods that would lead to irritation, such as too cold or hot foods, acidic foods, spicy foods, or sharp and hard foods [8]
