Eosinophilic Asthma Treatment Options

Leukotriene Modifiers

For mild cases of eosinophilic that persist, leukotriene modifiers can be an alternative treatment option. They include Zyflo, Singulair, or Accolate. You can use them to help control exercise-induced asthma. However, these medications are not suitable for alleviating an unexpected asthma attack in the short term. Some individuals have reported possible psychological issues with leukotriene modifiers. Thus, make sure to consult your doctor if you notice any problems. [2]

Biologic Therapies

Biologic therapies include a group of 5 targeted medications that have been recently discovered and approved for treating eosinophilic asthma. These include Dupixent, Fasenra, Cinqair, Nucala, and Xolair. The five drugs have shown positive results in most cases. Among these, the least effective medication is omalizumab because it has more specific effects on allergies than others. Also, they can be well tolerated with minimized side effects. [3]
