Fractures
Fractures or broken bones can lead to shooting pain on the elbow. They are often caused by injuries, such as an outstretched hand, a fall on your elbow, or a direct blow to this part after a vehicle accident. There are two common forms of elbow fractures, including radial head fractures and olecranon fractures. The sensation can be sudden and become severe. Swelling, tingling, and numbness would also occur in the forearm and elbow. These symptoms make it more difficult to straighten or move your arm as usual. [6]
