Dry Skin on Your Face – Causes, Signs, Preventions and Home Remedies

Shower Habit Changes and Exfoliating

If you experience dry skin on the face, it is advisable to take warm instead of hot showers. High temperature may remove natural oils and dry the skin. Another tip is to reduce your showering or bathing time to 5 to 10 minutes each time. This may help avoid uncecessary exposure to water, which would make the skin become drier. Last but not least, only take a shower once per day if you can. [7]

The skin naturally produces new cells to replace old ones. If dead cells are clogged on the surface, it may lead to dry areas or pores. You may exfoliate to help eliminate dead skin cells, thus improving the overall texture and easing dry patches. There are two forms of exfoliators:

– Chemical exfoliators include beta-hydroxy and alpha-hydroxy acids.

– Mechanical exfoliators include facial scrubs, exfoliating washcloths and cleansing brushes. [8]
