Dry Cough – Symptoms, Causes & Treatments

Postnasal Drip

Postnasal drip is the dripping of extra mucus in the throat. When you experience a seasonal allergy or a cold, the membranes in the nose respond by releasing more mucus than usual. This runny and watery substance will eventually drip down your throat and cause a dry cough. Since postnasal drip could tickle some nerves, it can also cause a runny nose, difficulty swallowing, or sore throat. Possible treatments often depend on the underlying cause, including an infection or allergies. [8]
