Differences Between Tremors and Dyskinesia

The Main Difference Between Dyskinesia and Tremor

In people with Parkinson’s disease, dyskinesia is likely to occur in later stages of Parkinson’s disease as the side effect of levodopa in the long term. On the other hand, tremors are one of the hallmark signs of the condition. It is among the motor symptom that may improve over time with the help of certain medications. However, it may be not easy to tell whether uncontrollable movements of certain body parts are caused by dyskinesia or tremors. Commonly, Parkinson’s disease may cause worsened tremors when their hands are supported by the body against gravity or at rest, which may improve when moving the arms. [4]
