Powassan Virus Disease
Powassan virus belongs to a family of viruses that would trigger the infection of the membranes or the brain. It can be passed to humans by infected ticks. This is a rare but usually severe disease. Touching, sneezing, or coughing does not spread the virus. People who live or work in wooded or brushy areas tend to be at a higher risk. The incubation period can last anywhere between 1 week and 1 month. Initial symptoms include weakness, vomiting, headache, and fever. [12]
